Bengaluru Calling

Orange flowers, wide sidewalks, the filter coffee and steaming idli’s…yes, that’s the calling of the age old Paradiser’s city Bangalore lately renamed as Bengaluru.

Come to be also known as the ‘Green City’ and ‘Silicon Valley of India – Bengaluru hasn’t lost it’s charm even with it’s streets buzzing with vehicles and it’s sidewalks getting busier with the IT and ITES colonies….Trust me – the British did leave a lasting effect on us.

But those of us who need to explore the city start with the little café that open at the earliest hours of the morning. Take a drive to this busy place – Malleshwaram. One of the must do’s when you’re a localite is to eat at MTR which is also located at many corners of the city but this one is special. Tucked away in a corner is the Halli Manne that serves the delicacies of the Karnataka – the Raggi Muddae and the steaming hot masala dosa which come in many varieties to suit the various taste buds.

Moving on after that, you would the city by 7.00am buzzing with the mini cabs on the street. Looking for a job??? You’re in the right place. From the Garment industries like Gokaldas to the IT giants like TCS, Infosys and Wipro rule the city. Every youngster in the country flocks here to find himself a job that can make him the next Prgrammer, Manager or even the next CEO.

The city has been swarming with the youth culture and certainly have the senior citizens grumble a bit  - the city on high alert all night has been a in the spotlight for on a few occasions but have never stopped life. The Mall culture as it’s popularly known in the other metros of the country has hit this little town too. Families and friends today meet at the malls sprawled all over the city to make it an enjoyable weekend – Some popular and outstanding ones like The Forum and Garuda Mall has been the most flocked into on the weekends.

Bengaluru, also well known for it’s lovely weather during the winters is certainly a place for the kids to just hang out in the playing grounds while practicing cricket and running off for their swimming and dancing classes. Thought the today’s Bangalorean believes in getting ahead in life -  they also believe in fitness regimes. Most corporates have a gymkhana within their facility but even otherwise there are many more in the city like the famous Steve’s Gym with trainers who’s made it internationally, Fitness Plus and Figurine Fitness.

Time to wind up your day – drive down to the 100ft road in Indiranagar and you’ll find yourself choosing from the various lounge and coffee bars. Simple and relaxing music and a lovely drink is the best way to end your day with the variety of cuisines offered at most of the restaurants. Excellent service and food is something that one looks for. But, if you choose to cook for your loved one whose back home from work – walk down to the nearest store in your locality and you will find yourself looking at all the ingredients in the cooking books you’ve bought.

From Worcestshire sauce to the variety of meat is something you can easily pick up from the ‘Monday to Sunday’ , ‘Niligiris’ , ‘FabMall’, ‘M.K or even ‘Food World’ – some chains of grocery stores you l find in and around city.

Or even better, call the next ‘Udupi Vihar’ to deliver home – Nan and the Dal fry.

Enjoy!!!!!......................
